With perfect spring conditions on Ruth Lake, it still tooks us a couple of days of hard fishing to finally find the fish! With the lake just beginning it’s “turnover” finding them was not easy. Though for the most part the sun was shining, we did face some bitter cold wind that chilled to the bone! On day three, we decided to concentrate in the narrows of the North side of Deer Island (an area we have never spent much time fishing in due to lack of success). Trolling a black leech on a sinking line we finally got into them and landed six rainbows over a few hours of fishing. Judging from other boats out on the water over the three days, we were the ones finally pulling them in.
So…we know where to fish in the fall, now we have the spring figured out. Next will be chronomid fishing to master the late spring and summer fishery. Stay tuned for future reports!
