Ready for hookup! 5 Kw of collection panels.
It has been a reasonably mild and dry winter so far in the South Caribou of British Columbia, here at Warm Springs Ranch on the shoreline of Ruth Lake. Our total snowfall is under 16 inches and our coldest day/night, -31.6 C.
This past week, Tracy and I worked on the solar panel racking. After actually seeing where the winter sun can be collected for our system, we changed the racking location to in front of our home. Here at 51.49 degrees latitude, collection time is limited so location of the panels is key to less fuel cost running the generator.
There were some definite trials and tribulations in the assembly process of the racks, especially since the main assembly diagram was incorrect, but we stayed patient, undid and redo’ed to finally get it right. Special thanks to oldest son, Scott Palmer who popped in to give us a hand getting the second of panels up and ready for wiring.

Next step if for the actual electrical hookup, running 130 feet of 8/3 AWG cable from the racks to the battery bank and inverter. We will keep you posted.
